Inlight Glass Fusion is the brainchild of French born Chantal Mesnard,
a Brighton based Fused Glass Artist and Workshop Tutor with over 20 years experience
in designing and making high quality kiln formed pieces.
Initially trained in Stained Glass, Chantal has developed the many fused glass techniques
she uses in her work by patiently experimenting and recording her findings over the years.
“I have kept the very first pieces I fused so many years ago.
I honour them as a reminder of my journey so far”
A versatile artist, she has over the years produced a wide range of work
both functional and decorative such as Clocks, Jewellery, Dinnerware,
Vases and Framed Panels using a diversity of techniques.
Metals, foils, specialised paints and various glass accessories are combined and layered
to produce the stunning array of colours and designs which make her work truly unique.
Her inspiration stems from her passion for colours and their relationships
with each other and form, both in nature and life. “Some colours demand
a particular form to resonate to their full potential. I remember assembling colours
and shapes together as a child. I would spend hours trying out
various combinations, very much as I do today”
Having sold her work all over the UK for many years she now shares her time
between developing her own work and tutoring the many workshops she runs
on a weekly basis in her vibrant and inspirational Studio/Gallery in Brighton & Hove.
Chantal is a firmly established Workshop Tutor with an impressive record of
glowing comments from the hundreds of inspired students who attend her workshop.
“I offer people a creative space and the opportunity to use beautiful materials
unknown to most of them. As well as instructing students in various fused glass
techniques, my job is to help them tap into their creative pool. The results are fantastic.
We are all naturally creative but incredibly not always aware of it.
Guiding others to realise this is an absolute joy.”
